Gustav Klimt - Forest Slope in Unterach on the Attersee (1916)

150 years ago, on of the most important artists of Secession was born in Vienna: Gustav Klimt. To honor him, his natal city is organizing diverse exhibitions but also New York has a local small homage at the Neue Gallery.

More on the exhibition, by the New York Times. Gustav Klimt: 150 years will be on until August 27 at  Neue Galerie (1048 Fifth Avenue, at 86th Street). Neuegalerie.org.

Gino Rubert - Claire Oliver Gallery

I first saw the work of Gino Rubert in the cover of the books of Stieg Larsson in Spain. I found the elongated, darkish images of the ladies extremely tempting, interesting, conflicting. Months after that, I was asked to interview him for an airline magazine in Mexico - and it turn out to be one of the most interesting interviews I had done. His painting technique is beautiful and crafty - his images reveal histories in many layers.
I just received in my email an invitation for the opening of his new exhibition "True Love"... the problem again is that I'm not around. The works of Rubert will be in the Claire Oliver Gallery, from March 29th until April 28th. This Thrusday - while in Spain we live through a general strike - he will be introducing his work at the Gallery from 18h00 to 20h00.

The Claire Oliver Gallery is located @ 513 West 26th Street in New York. (Website)
